Greetings to all of my fans who have been eagerly awaiting the next installment in my blog! Life has been very busy since I last wrote. Most notably, I turned 4 in May! Not only is turning 4 a very big occasion in and of itself, but my birthday also marks the day that papas starts drinking my namesake, Oberon beer! He drinks it all the way through the summer until his birthday in October. Very nice. This year we celebrated my birthday by having my Aunt Jamie and Uncle Ben and my little friend Avery over for some fun. They brought me a very nice indestructible purple octopus! I do enjoy being 4 although it is very similar to being three.
Soon after my birthday we headed to my favorite place in the whole entire world: the Beach!!! Grammie and Popops have a special sign at their place that says so. I spent as much time as I could bounding through the waves to retrieve the bright orange and unsinkable Chuck-it ball. It is far superior to regular tennis balls, many of which are sitting at the bottom of Lake Michigan. I grew very adept at sighting the ball, anticipating how the wave would move it, and how to look all around me in case it had washed to shore. Mamas and papas were impressed with my retrieval skills, and I had very much fun! Oh, and my friend Jack was Up North too, but we didn't really get to play together - we just sniffed butts to say hello.
My very nice little cousins were Up North as well. Although I don't like how they climb all over me, they are still welcome because they leave crumbs and feed me from the table. I get lots of people food while I'm Up North because I need my strength for all of the running and swimming and frolicking on the beach of course! We also celebrated Grammie and Popops 40th Anniversary while we were up there even though their actual anniverary isn't until August 31. Mamas and papas made a very nice DVD that we all enjoyed watching very much. They tried very hard to find a projector so that we could watch it outside on the dock, but watching it inside worked out well, too.
Speaking of the dock, although it is very nice to be on the river (some of the boaters know me and call me by name!) it is also very hot in the afternoon on the dock. While my people enjoy the sun, despite my name, I most certainly do not! Therefore, mamas and papas created a "pup tent" for me on the dock. They draped my towel (with my name stitched on the center edge of it of course) across two chairs to create shade and then they spread out one of their towels underneath so that I would have a nice spot to lay. They even angled the chairs so that the breeze would pass through my shady spot. It was very nice, and I enjoyed a very relaxing day napping in my shady, breezy pup tent!
Now we are home and as much as I enjoy the air conditioning, I do miss the beach. We took a long walk yesterday and my paws are very tender today. Also the antibiotics are working on my itchies and scratchies, so that is very good.
I have just finished rigorously slobbering my soccer ball (kind of like my basketball although not as big but more intact) and now I am resting in my chair. Normally I would have spent much of the day today in the bathroom sleeping against the cool tile, but mamas spent the entire afternoon in there scrubbing the grout until it was white. Furthermore I was very tired from my early morning wake up (5:00) to see mamas out the door as she went off to meet Auntie Andrea flying in from California. Normally Auntie Andrea comes back here and I snuggle with her, but today she had a wedding to go to. I tried to catch up on my sleep anyway, but papas was making a lot of noise finishing the pantry cabinet doors. They do look very nice. I wish mamas had shared the most delicious Jet's Ranch dressing with me when I indicated that I was begging for it. Oh well.
Maybe I will get one more roll in the grass before the day is done. I do enjoy smelling of dirt.
It's a Bunn's Life, for sure. Wait! I think that I smell Salmon for dinner! Is it too early to start begging for it?

My Very Special Valentine to February
I do enjoy February, the month when many seem to get the blahs. Although I see how the gray can be quite depressing at times, I find it perfect for snuggling and napping and slobbering and sleeping. While some curse the cold, I am glad to have a reprieve from the itchy skin that plagues me during the hot summer months. In fact, I find the cold very invigorating. I love to bound in the snow, chipping and shredding any sticks that have fallen from the tree in my yard, or maybe I get to go the field to play fetch for hours with my friends Rex and Riley. Nothing feels better than rolling around in the snow, cooling off everything, especially my giblets! The snow is also helpful for marking my territory because now I can see where I have already marked instead of just smelling it! It’s very convenient, especially when I claim the territory right off the deck and in every corner of the driveway as my own.
February is also an exciting month for birthdays in my family. This year has been especially busy because my grandpapas not only celebrated his birthday today, but we had a very nice dinner for him at my house last week when he was promoted President of his company! Although I don’t quite understand why he has to get up so early and work such long hours, I am very proud of him. I was happy to help host the dinner (especially since he and grandmamas had given me my favorite red rooster) but I did not like how much mamas and papas had to run the vacuum to get ready for the event. You see, it is very loud and sometimes it sucks the rug up and that makes a terrible noise. Furthermore, it disturbs my favorite sleeping areas (3 of the 4 corners of the couch) so I am forced to retreat to my chair or outside. It is not very pleasant for me at all, but I do enjoy it when the people arrive. I especially like to keep their feets warm under the table during dinner. I am a very good boy while people are eating at the table, but I do beg when they eat on the couches. (It is really just my way to encourage them to eat properly; however, my humans often ignore my promptings such as when to wake up , how much water to drink each day, and why it’s important to eat dinner early rather than late. Oh well. I do my best, and they are improving.)
Today we celebrated two very special occasions. My grandpapas had his birthday today, and so did my very special cousin K.C. She turned 16! I was very excited to turn three, so I can only imagine how much fun it is to turn 16! K.C. still has to finish her driver’s ed, and then I am sure that she will take me and my snister Sadie out for a spin! She is a very good driver I am told. Sadie and I enjoy riding in the car, although my aunt says that it’s bad for me to stick my head out the window. She says that it causes earaches. I say, some things are just worth it! But I digress. We had a very nice celebration at K.C.’s house, and I was so happy that I was invited. I was a very good boy during dinner, and I outlasted Sadie with the “stay” command. (Incidentally, I don’t really think of it as a command. I know it’s just mamas and papas way of instructing me how to be a good boy so that I get invited back to these very fun places.) Sadie and I had fun taking turns gnawing on one of her bones. I think that all of the people had fun, too. It was very nice to see everyone. Ever since I was a tiny puppy, K.C. has been very special to me. Even before I went home with my mamas and papas, I fell asleep on K.C.’s foot. Since then, we have been bonded. She is very nice, and I am very lucky that she is my cousin. I hope that she has a very happy birthday!
A happy birthday to my grandpapas, too! I didn’t get to take part in his celebration last night, but the leftovers that mamas and papas brought home last night smelled very good. I will have to beg as they enjoy their leftovers tomorrow.

Quick Facts
NAME: Oberon
My real name is Oberon, although when I was tiny, my Mamas nicknamed me "Mr. Bunn." My Papas came up with my name when he was drinking his favorite Bell's beer and realized that its wheaty golden color made it a perfect name for a Golden Retriever! You may be wondering why I add an "S" to some of my titles. Well, I do enjoy Lord of the Rings and have taken to talking like a hobbitt sometimes.
NICKNAMES:
Mr. Bunns, Bunny, M. Sampson Bunn, Bunners, Bunnicula (around Halloween), Jingle Bunn (around Christmas), Cinnabunn (around breakfast), Bunmose I (when I am particularly regal), Oberonous Puppalupagus (my Greek name for when I am eating lamb and rice kibble) Snugglebunn (for when I am very snuggly), Snuggabunch (after my Aunt Julie's real bunny Huggabunch), and of course as my cousin K.C. calls me - Oberon Billygoat Houdini Sampson (because I often as a puppy climbed on things like the open door of a dishwasher or escaped from my baby-gated area)
HOBBIES:
Snuggling, Slobbering my stuffed animals, Sleeping on the couch, Stalking creatures and plastic bags in my backyard
FAVORITE PLACES:
3 out the 4 corners of the couches, my chair in the bay window from where I keep tabs on the world, the beach, of course, the field when I romp with my friends Rex and Riley, and Colorado where I have my own pack
DUTIES:
Get at least 20 out of 24 hours of sleep a day so that I can faithfully perform my other duties which include, but are not limited to, greeting my mamas and papas enthusiastically at the door (although sometimes I am rather groggy due to duty #1), making sure that all of my stuffed animals receive an equal amount of slobber so that they become uniformly crusty to the touch, thumping my tail soundly against the wall if my mams does not get up after her third sleeper alarm, snorting, sneezing in mamas and papas faces in the morning to be sure that they wake up, keeping them warm at night by snuggling across half of the bed, provide plenty of opportunities to scratch me, (however, please note that I do not like to be pet on the head like a d-o-g. I prefer scratching behind the ears or on my tummy, or stroking my regal mane or my stately paws). As you can see, I am very busy.
CURRENT LIST OF STUFFED ANIMALS:
Red Rooster, Old Rooster, MooseLamb, Mallard, Ducky (my favorite - I picked him out of the bin at the pet store for my third birthday), Basketball, My Cycloptic Leopard and Froggy, Roary - my little lion that I slobber during Lion's games, of course - Mr. Monkey sans tail, Mr. Moo, Rock Lobster, Penguin, Squeaky Snowman, Giraffe, and my newest toy - the Ram called Ba Ram Nu.
FAVORITE FOODS:
CHEESE! Especially gourmet cheese like Gruyere, Manchego, Raclette, and Feta. I will settle for regular cheddar, although I do find it rather bourgeouis- hardly drool-inducing like the others. SALMON! I will whine at the counter until I am given some. PRETTY MUCH ANY PEOPLE FOOD to supplement my gourmet kibble.
WISHES:
That I could eat whatever my mamas and papas are eating, and that my day would include lunch, just like theirs. That the beach were in my backyard. That Mamas and Papas would get a king-sized bed since my half of the queen-sized bed is cramped. That I had friends to play with at my leisure, not all of the time, just when I felt like it. That it would never get above 65 degrees outside. (55 year round would be perfect unless I am running.)
FAVORITE SAYINGS:
Very Nice. Of Course. Oh Good.
